India Post selects Infosys to develop delivery platform

BANGALORE, INDIA: To enable more than 1,30,000 rural post offices to offer online services, India Post has selected Infosys to develop a service delivery platform that would facilitate their latest plan to modernise its services in rural areas.

As per a PTI report, Infosys said in a statement, "The platform will also connect and manage more than 130,000 handheld devices used by rural postal workers for distribution of social benefits under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and process Electronic Money Orders."

Through this project, Infosys will figure out ways to increase the adoption of India Post's services among the rural population and expand the reach of the department's services in rural areas.

As per an agreement signed by the two parties before, Infosys will also transform Indian Post's financial services operations and end-user experience under the Financial Services System Integration programme.
