India part of international telecom body

MUMBAI: India has become the newest BiCSi district, with over 100 members from the structured cabling and telecommunications industry coming together to join the Building Industry Consulting Service International (BiCSi) movement in India, with a mission to promote and educate users on networking and telecommunications issues.



To mark this occasion, BiSCi India district inaugural conference was held at Mumbai on February 6. Earlier, D-Link (India) Ltd GM-SCS, Vikas Pinjarkar was elected District Chair - BiCSi India and Sigma Byte Computers Pvt Ltd director, Ketan Kothari was elected as District Secretary - BiCSi India. They will be heading BiCSi India steering committee.



International development manager of BiSCi, USA Paulo Eduardo da Silva, Pinjarkar, Kothari, Reliance Group CTO Jyotindra Thacker, and over 120 networking and telecom vendors from across India attended the inaugural conference.



BiCSi is also conducting "Registered Communications Distribution Designer" (RCDD) exam for the first time in India on February 5, 2004. RCDD is a designation for individuals who demonstrate expertise in the design, integration and implementation of telecommunications (voice, data, video, audio, and other low-voltage control) transport systems and their related infrastructure components. An RCDD is responsible for the detailed design of new systems and/or the integration of a design into an existing one.



BiCSi is an independent body not affiliated to any vendor around the world, and conducts programs to keep its members abreast with latest developments in technology.
