'India goes digital' begins in Delhi

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Spreading the theme ‘India goes digital’, the 20th edition of three-day Convergence India kicked off at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi today. More than 500 ICT companies and vendors participated in this gala event.

The industry deliberated on a range of subjects, and called upon remedial steps to fuel telecom growth in the country.

Industry veteran Umang Das said that the uncertainty in the Indian telecom sector should end at the earliest in order to facilitate growth.

TEMA president Rajiv Mehrotra while referring the recent McKinsey report said that India can grow at a rate of 25 per cent by 2050 through leveraging ICT. Mehrotra believes that cooperation between various stakeholders is vital to fuel growth.

The panelists include BSNL CMD RK Upadhayay, Telenor India head Rajiv Bawa, PwC Managing Consultant Hemant Arora and Indian Cellular Association director Pankaj Mahindroo.

The exhibitors include; Aircel, Amdocs, Cisco, C-Dot, NDS, Viom, MediaTek, D-Link, Nokia Siemens Networks, Microsoft and Oxigen.

Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Finland, Italy, Spain, Singapore, Norway, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Pakistan are among the participating countries.
