India to call on Australian IT cos

NEW DELHI: As part of

it's Emerging Companies forum, NASSCOM will lead an IT trade delegation

to Australia from May 23 - May 27, 2005. The delegation is an ongoing

initiative by NASSCOM and Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA)

to increase partnership opportunities between emerging companies in the

two countries. The delegation visit will coincide with CeBIT, the largest

ICT event in Australia.






Led by Zensar Techonlogies deputy chairman and CEO and NASSCOM Innovation
Forum chairman Ganesh Natarajan, the delegation will comprise of emerging

Indian ICT companies seeking alliances with companies in Australia. The

team's agenda will include a host of networking events and business

seminars in Sydney and Melbourne.






NASSCOM President Kiran Karnik said, “Currently, India's software
exports to Australia is around (US)$105 million. The large Australian ICT

market has already attracted a number of Indian ICT companies."



Karnik also mentioned that the Indian ICT market

is  growing rapidly and offers significant potential for the export

of advanced products and services from Australia. Indo-Australian

partnership can enable the transfer of skills and technology in both

directions, thereby strengthening their competitive position.”






“The Asia-Pacific sector is emerging as a fast growth sector in the
global ICT market. Australia and India are both important markets in this

region and provide numerous opportunities for cooperation within their own

markets as well as to other countries,” he added.






Australia's ICT sector, with a total income of $90 billion in 2002-03, is
one of the most highly developed and cost competitive ICT platforms in the

Asia Pacific region. This visit will give emerging Indian IT companies an

opportunity to build understanding as well as business partnerships with

Australian companies.
