MUMBAI: Bangalore-based iNabling Technologies, popularly known as iNablers
has launched its third Executive Model of iStation technology in Mumbai. The
previous two models called Premier P1001 and Classic C1001, priced at Rs 5990
and Rs 7990 respectively, have sold around 2,500 units.
The new executive model, priced at Rs 9995 is expected to touch around
7,000-8,000 unit sales this fiscal year.
Addressing a press conference here, Narsimha Prabhu, CTO, said the device
could be used exclusively for message dissemination and delivery. Presently,
iStation is available in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil and will soon be available in
Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi and Bengali.
iStation can be connected to a standard telephone jack. It is packed with
256KB memory capacity and has an inbuilt modem, backlight LCD for nighttime
viewing and a 9V UM9 back-up battery. Users can have their own private e-mail
IDs through the iStation's exclusive system allowing up to five people to share
a single unit.
With a presence in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Chennai, the company has now
entered Mumbai where one server has been installed. "We plan to install 70
servers all over the country by next year," said John Aravamuthan, CEO,
iNablers.
Aravamuthan also said that the company is in talks with the Maharashtra
government to implement e-governance in tune with the government of Karnataka,
where 70 panchayats have been connected using iStations. The company has
invested $2.5 million to develop this technology. There are plans to take this
technology overseas. "We are in talks with the companies in South Africa,
Latin America, South East Asia, Middle East and Germany," he said.
