Impulsesoft is all set to make its mark in the Bluetooth arena. The company had
already introduced two products, BluePC and iBTStack in February this year. It
is working on a Bluetooth chip, which will be launched this December.
The BluePC family of products from Impulsesoft is specifically targeted at
Bluetooth enabling personal computers, laptops and handheld devices. The company
provides a complete out-of-box Bluetooth software solution for PCMCIA card, USB
and UART dongles and for integration of Bluetooth onto the PC motherboard.
Impulsesoft’s turnkey solutions allow PC, peripherals and networking OEMs to
get their Bluetooth enabled products to the market faster. The iBTStack family
of products is a customized implementation of the Bluetooth protocol stack. Each
solution is optimized for size and speed for the target real-time operating
system and processor platform. The iBTStack series provides a complete Bluetooth
solution for Internet gateway, LAN access and PDA or handheld applications.
Impulse Software, which was founded by five design engineers who had
previously worked with Texas Instruments and National Semiconductor in India,
also provides consulting, system integration services and training for
developing Bluetooth applications and products using its BlueUSB driver.
Speaking on the company, Impulsesoft CEO S Bhaskar said, "When we started
this company, we explored around 13 ideas before choosing Bluetooth. We are the
first company in India to register ourselves in the Bluetooth segment and we are
the only company in the world working on Bluetooth enabling personal computers.
Currently, our products are targeted at the international market and we think it
will take 2-3 years for us to start domestic sales."
Currently, the company employs around 30 professionals, which is expected to
reach 60 by March 2001. Impulsesoft has sales offices in Taiwan, the UK, Japan
and Korea. It is shortly opening its offices in the US, Israel and Germany.
Without mentioning the figures, Bhaskar said that the company is exploring
strategic investment or VC funding to finance its expansion plans over the next
two years.
