iMonitor releases list of best news apps for iPad

NEW YORK, USA: McPheters & Co. announced the iMonitor™ list of Best News Apps for iPad. iMonitor is the world's leading source of information on news and publication-related tablet apps, providing global tracking and detailed evaluations of nearly 11,000 apps - with hundreds more added each month.

iMonitor collects information on more than 100 variables and applies consistent evaluative criteria to every app, assessing each in terms of accessibility and ease of navigation, functionality and use of rich media enhancements. Clients include media companies, ad agencies, and app developers in the US and abroad. iMonitor's annual list of Best Magazine Apps will be released later this month.

According to company founder, Rebecca McPheters: "All of the apps on this list, which are presented in alphabetical order, are outstanding and free of malfunctions - falling in the top fraction of 1 percent of all those tracked. They are easy to navigate and appropriately leverage the iPad's capabilities to both fully engage their users and to expand upon the service typically provided by more traditional media forms. The apps on this list are particularly noteworthy in light of a continuing trend among publishers generally towards simpler, less engaging apps."

The apps have been identified as part of the process leading up to the company's publication of The State of the App 2013, which will be the third annual update.
