IITL launches MeraMobi

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Minister of State in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia on Thursday launched MeraMobi, a GPRS-based software by India Interactive Technologies Limited (IITL), a group company of Pitroda Group LLC (USA) and DBCL.

“India is the first country to launch MeraMobi,” said Rajeev Mishra, business head, IITL. “The share of GPRS active users is steadily growing among all mobile phone users. Today, out of 278 million mobile phone users in India around 20 million are GPRS active consumers compared to 30 million Internet users.”

MeraMobi is backed by the technology of Pitroda group LLC.

“Security is one of the most important aspects while performing mobile transactions. MeraMobi uses industry standard techniques to encrypt sensitive user information and protect it throughout the transaction”, according to Nehal Maniar, vice president-core products, C-SAM.

MeraMobi can be downloaded for free on any GPRS active phone across all GSM operators. In addition, it can be downloaded on more than 500 phones, services for each customised, ensuring user-friendly handling, easy surfing and a rich experience.

The features of MeraMobi include booking of train and air tickets; make utility payments; access national and international news; keep a track of the bulls and the bears, find the right job; and many more.

MeraMobi was first launched in Mumbai and hence talking about the consumer research done with the Nielsen Company, Mishra added, “Our findings on 3000 consumers of Mumbai showed that people were able to relate with the services and that it does have a huge potential especially when it comes from a secure platform as that of MeraMobi. Bill payment was seen as the best utility transaction service.”
