IIT Kanpur associates with STP, Kanpur

KANPUR, August 25: IIT Kanpur (IITK) has

announced a strategic tie-up with Software Technology Park, Kanpur, in the

area of computer application in engineering. It is setting up an Advanced

Center for Software Education and Training ( ) to meet the training

needs of software industry by offering need based curriculum. Further, to

give thrust to research and development, IITK is setting up a Technology

Incubation and Development Centre (TIDC) where space modules shall be

provided to industry for technical development by utilizing the

intellectual resources of IITK. This center will be a major attraction to

the IT industry having commercial development units at STPK.

IITK set up the WAN link for STPK and is

working closely with some companies that have come up in STPK. The

institute also has a scheme for setting up R&D cells under which three

companies--Cadence (India), ComDev and Secure Meters--have already set up

their cells. Neomagic Corporation of Silicon Valley has started operations

in STPK and has linked up with IITK for technology development.
