IIT JAM 2022: How to apply, Important Dates, Application Form, Organising Institute, and Eligibility Criteria

IIT Roorkee is conducting the IIT JAM 2022. It has released the IIT JAM 2022 official notification to conduct the exam on February 13, 2022.

The Joint Admission Test for Masters is a common admission test for admission into PG science programs at IITs, IISc, and NITs. The exam is organized by alternating institutes every year, and this year, IIT Roorkee is conducting the IIT JAM 2022. It has released the IIT JAM 2022 official notification to conduct the exam on February 13, 2022. Online applications will begin from Monday, August 30, 2021, till Monday, October 11. The JAM 2022 admit cards will come out on the official portal from January 4, 2022; the result will come out on March 22, 2022.

IIT JAM 2022 Eligibility Criteria and Admission Procedure

The eligibility criteria for JAM 2022 for MSc (two-year), Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD. Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor's Degree programs differ from participating institute to institute. Further, the institute may cancel the admission if the candidate does not meet their respective eligibility norms. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria carefully before filling the IIT JAM 2022 application form.

All Indian and Foreign nationals candidates who have a Bachelor's or equivalent degree can apply for JAM 2022. In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding-off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL) category candidates and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD category candidates.

To fill the application form, the applicant needs to log into the JAM Online Application Process System website (JOAPS). There, he/she will have to provide the necessary information. This further includes the choice of programs in order of preference, educational qualifications, the percentage of marks/CGPA, category, PwD status, etc. The online application fee for the examination is Rs 750 for one test paper and 1050 for two test papers for female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates. Further, for all other candidates, it is Rs 1500 for one test paper and 2100 for two test papers. Interested students can go through the official website in detail.

Documents to keep

The last date to apply is October 11, 2021. You need to have scanned copies of your ID proofs, all your mark sheets, a digital signature, and a digital photograph; in other cases, keep a copy of your category certificate as well. All the items that you will need:

· Personal information (name, date of birth, personal mobile number, parent’s name, parent’s mobile number, etc.). Also, please note that the name of the candidate in the application form must exactly be the same as per the qualifying degree certificate. JAM 2022 Score Card will have the name that you entered in the application form. Further, you DON'T need to use prefix/titles such as Mr/Shri/Dr/Mrs/Smt, etc.

· Address for communication (including PIN code)

· Eligibility degree details

· College name and address with PIN code

· JAM paper(s)

· Choice of JAM examination cities

· High-quality image of the candidate’s recent photograph conforming to the requirements specified

· High-quality image of the candidate’s signature conforming to the requirements specified

· Scanned copy of the Category (SC/ST) Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format

· Scanned copy of PwD Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format

· Details of the valid Identity Document (ID) (This ID proof, in original, should be carried by the candidate to the examination hall)

· Net-banking/debit card/credit card details for fee payment

JAM 2022 highlights

This year, IIT JAM 2022 exam, like last year, will also happen in CBT mode for all test papers - Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Sciences (MS), and Physics (PH). All the seven Test Papers of JAM 2021 are entirely objective type, with three different patterns of questions, namely MCQs, MSQ and NAT questions. IIT Roorkee will also only accept online applications. The institute has asked students to not send any hard copies of documents. Further, applicants have to upload them online to the application website only. Moreover, students will not have to undergo a suitability test or interview for the Master’s programs under JAM.

Integrated Ph.D. programs in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Biological Sciences at IISc Bangalore will also use the JAM results to shortlist candidates for the final selection.
