IIT-Delhi, Hummingbird sign MoU for knowledge management

NEW DELHI: Canada based Hummingbird and IIT-Delhi have signed a MoU wherein
the former would provide its expertise in the area of knowledge management and
its related applications to the Department of Management Studies.

In India Hummingbird solutions are available through SoftEdge Solutions and
therefore they would undertake the implementation of the entire cycle including
primary consulting at the Department. "Students at the department will be
able to exploit this technology and thereby help lend themselves intellectual
capital," said Prof. Sushil, Chair, Department of Management Studies,
Strategic Management Group IIT-Delhi.

The MoU has been signed for a period of 6 months and is expected to help
students understand the importance of managing information for effective
decision making. Hummingbird tools enable structuring and processing of
information at an organizational level.

"We are facilitating and developing this lab to be used and understood
by students and thereby apply them in their working area of knowledge
management" said Ravi Chakravarthy, Country Manager, India, Hummingbird
Inc. According to Chakravarthy, the company has 250 strategic partners and 6
million users of its knowledge management solutions, and 73 per cent of the
market share worldwide.

Both structured and non-structured information form crucial elements of
organizational information, and of which non-structured form 70 per cent of all
information. Therefore the Hummingbird tools that would be available to students
would also help them access both these types of information through a common
unified sign on or knowledge servers.
