IIT Delhi alumnus launches Classpad

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Banking on technology to facilitate education, IIT Delhi alumni and co-founder and CEO of Classteacher Learning Systems Rohit Pande has introduced Classpad- a 1.3 GHz processor tablet PC for schoolchildren.

This new e-reading device has 75,000 locally developed applications and is equipped with distinctive software. It can also be connected to interactive whiteboards. The Classpad also features dashboards for students and teachers.

Pande said that the new device would be available in two models have a price of Rs 7,500 and 14,500 respectively. “The students can also pay Rs 100 a month to get this tablet,” he added.

Pande also informed that they will be starting to accept online orders from January 2012. Teachers can transfer notes and presentations directly to students’ tablets and conduct assessments.

With a focus on students of standard 3 to 12, the Classpad offers a personalized teaching experience. It can easily differentiate students in accordance with their capabilities and skill sets, the company said.

The company in a survey found that 33 per cent of schools are keen to adopt technology while 31 per cent of respondents favored digital interactive classrooms.

Classteacher is importing this device from Taiwan. The company believes that many such innovations would catapult the revolution in the digital interactive segment.
