IIM-C, IIT Kharagpur to add more seats

NEW DELHI: The premier educational institutions in the country are split over the reservation issue with the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C) and the Indian Institute of Technology, (IIT) Kharagpur deciding to increase the number of seats from this year.

IIM-C has decided to increase its intake capacity for both the PGDM and PGDCM courses and the number of seats has been increased to 330 from 270.

It also has plans to introduce a new one-year residential management programme for working executives from this year. Forty students could be admitted to this programme.

IIT, Kharagpur director Prof SK Dube said that the institute is expanding its infrastructure and capacity to add more seats in future.

Meanwhile, IIM Ahmedabad has decided against increasing the number of seats, with its B Dholakia saying that it has its plate full.
