IGNOU launches bachelor degree in IT

The Indra Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), in collaboration with Edexcel

Foundation, UK, announced the launch of a new degree program-Bachelor of Information

Technology (BIT). This degree is embedded with curriculum of the internationally accepted

BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) of UK.






The degree program will be of three years duration and will be covered in nine trimesters,
of which the first five trimesters will be of HND in computing or HND in computing and

multimedia, followed by four trimesters of IGNOU. The minimum eligibility for admission

will be 10+2, and admission will be through a test. A minimum of 1,500 students will be

taken. At the completion of BIT, students will be eligible to enter the 2d year of MCA

program of Ignou.
