NEW DELHI: iGate Global Solutions Ltd has announced plans to hire over 500 IT professionals in Chennai over the next 6 to 12 months, thus doubling its employee base in the city.

The company, which currently has a 65,000 sq. ft facility in Chennai, also announced plans to add a further 35,000 sq. ft in Chennai in the next three months. With this infrastructure expansion, Chennai will become the company's second largest facility in India.

Commenting on the expansion in Chennai, N. Ramachandran, CFO, iGATE Global Solutions said, " With good infrastructure, easy availability of high quality technical resources and a dedicated talent pool, Chennai offers us one of four 'tech-enabled' geographies in India where we will definitely look to expand our footprint into the future."

iGATE has offices in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Noida and Chennai.

The company is currently in the process of completing the second phase of its expansion at its 14 acre integrated technology and operations campus in Bangalore. The company had earlier this year expanded its presence in Hyderabad by setting up a development center there.

On the outlook for the IT services market, Mohan Sekhar, CDO - IT Services said, "The IT services market continues to grow, buoyed by strong fundamentals and forward-looking delivery models provided by a few ITES companies. We believe offshore is becoming more mainstream and that more projects are going to be done out of India."
