IFFCO-TOKIO decided to consolidate their current IT infrastructure system to build a Disaster Recovery setup. They chose to consolidate their heterogeneous storage set-up along with defining a future roadmap to build a dynamic IT infrastructure. IFFCO-TOKIO also needed a smooth integration of existing storage systems to a new infrastructure with minimum downtime and flexibility. The current infrastructure allows ITGI to be able to perform at under 75 per cent CPU utilization with additional scalability of 50 per cent workload approximately.

IBM secured the deal after demonstrating the value proposition on total cost of ownership, clear strategy, risk management capabilities & technical capabilities, and an assured roadmap for scalability. The clinchers, was IBM’s ability to set-up a new Disaster Recovery (DR) and move the existing hardware to the new DR in quick time by reusing the existing machines. The ability to move about resources dynamically based on business needs, would give ITGI the benefits of higher TCO.

“Apart from gaining a scalable and highly available infrastructure, with IBM’s performance monitoring tools that is available to all POWER customers, ITGI was able to size its machines for the requisite loads. A Dynamic Infrastructure is a necessity in today’s competitive scenario and we believe that we have started our journey towards this with this investment. We wanted to partner with the best technology vendor in the industry in order to leverage their expertise to lay the way for our future growth, while streamlining our operational costs”, said Mr. U.C. Dubey, Director- IT, Iffco Tokio General Insurace Company Ltd., India.
