NEW DELHI: iDLX, the American check major, is setting up a third-party call center in Mumbai. The center with a 1,000-seat capacity is expected to begin operations by the end of November. The center has already recruited 450 operators. "The contract is from a retail chain major based in the US," said iDLX Technology Partners vice president Raju Bhatnagar. But he did not reveal details of the contract saying that it was not correct to do so until the services were started.

The center will operate under iDLX’s spin-off venture e-Funds Ltd. The company has already started the process of separating the functions and the spin-off is expected to take place shortly. All the e-transaction businesses will be handled by the new company and iDLX will concentrate on its traditional business of printing checks.

iDLX already has a shared services center in Gurgaon from which it has been carrying out personalization of checks and providing other shared services for the financial sector. With the experience gained from this center, e-Funds has set up the third-party call center in Mumbai. Having a well-established presence in the US as well as a captive call center and shared services center in Gurgaon, it was not difficult for iDLX to bag outsourcing orders.
