IDLSDPL to take on Chinese products

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Indian Digital Life Style Distributors Pvt. Ltd, a new company with business interests in distribution of life style and IT products is all geared to compete with Chinese products, which have flooded the Indian market.

Talking to CyberMedia News here, Surinder Saini, assistant vice president (sales) of India Digital Life Style Distributors said that the company will be introducing top brands from US, Europe and Japanese markets in the Indian subcontinent.

“Indian scenario is that the market is flooded with cheap Chinese products. We will be introducing life style, IT products and also IT AV or convergence products from various leading brands in US, Europe and Japan in the Indian market. All the products will be targeted at middle-class to high-class consumers and will have a price range, which will be worth-the-money spent,” he said.

Saini said that IDLSDPL will be taking a leadership role in introducing newer products with cutting-edge technology in the Indian market. “Our products will be ahead of the curve. We expect to garner at least five per cent market share by the end of this fiscal, though the company itself is only two months old now,” he said.

“IDLSDPL will be looking at establishing a pan-Indian presence by introducing newer brands and products. As a first step, we will be launching a touch-based MP3 players and products, which are for the rich and very influential. We are also looking at getting into IT products, especially in the networking and Wifi space,” Saini informed.

He said that the company would be doubling the dealer network from the current 350 apart from increasing the billing locations from 15 to 19 in the current fiscal.

“Our primary objective is to expand the dealer network, stabilising product categories and to address the billing issues. We will be offering all our products with uniform pricing, no matter which state or city they are procured from, by the dealer,” Saini said.

Some of the products that will be made available in the Indian market by IDLSDPL are the Japan’s Yes brand, which has a great market in South Africa, Australia, UK and Spain; Go-fish range of PDAs from Europe and US; and Parrot, which is a leading brand for Bluetooth-enabled devices in Europe. The company is also in talks with a Japanese major for distribution of its products in India, apart from Wi-Fi products for home and enterprise users.

On the service front, Saini said that the IDLSDPL will double-up its sales offices across India as service centres also. “As for some other places where we don’t have a presence, the dealers will be trained for servicing the new products,” Saini added.
