Idea to invest Rs. 200 cr in Maharashtra

MUMBAI: Idea Cellular has announced plans to invest Rs 200 crore in the next six months towards installing an additional switch in Pune and setting up additional cell sites across Maharashtra and Goa circle to provide increased coverage with higher capacity.



According to a press statement issued by the company, Idea would also offer a new number series of 98500 for its customers, thereby providing for five lakh customers.



"This additional Rs 200 crore takes our investment in Maharashtra to Rs 750 crore. With four installed switches which have capacities to process 1.5 million calls per hour, our additional switch in Pune will provide us with the highest capacity in Maharashtra and Goa circle," said Idea Cellular Maharashtra and Goa circle COO, Vijay Grover.
