Idea Cellular Q4 consol net up 3 pc

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Idea Cellular, India's fifth-biggest mobile carrier, reported a 3 per cent rise in consolidated quarterly profit, helped by steady call prices and as its subscriber base grew.

Idea, part of the cement-to-retail conglomerate Aditya Birla Group, said consolidated net profit rose to 2.75 billion rupees ($61 million) for its fiscal fourth quarter ended March, from 2.67 billion rupees reported a year earlier.

A Reuters poll of 10 brokerages had on average expected net profit of 2.48 billion rupees for the company, which had about 92 million mobile subscribers at end-April.
