NEW DELHI: Singapore aims to bring in 1,000 qualified infocomm talents from NIIT's global training centers in China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia for employment within a year. This initiative will be undertaken by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and NIIT Asia Pacific Pte (NIIT). In the new economy today, many high growth sectors face significant shortages in infocomm manpower. The growth in infocomm manpower in Singapore is expected to be around 10 per cent over the next two years. This translates into a need for 10,000 infocomm professionals every year. By the year 2010, the country will need some 250,000 infocomm professionals.

The signing of the MoU between IDA and NIIT recognizes the availability of a large number of talented pool of infocomm manpower in the sub-continent. Singapore possesses many attributes that should attract Indians and other nationals. These include the country’s robust economy and a growing infocomm industry with many varied job opportunities, especially in critical areas such as e-commerce, interactive broadband multimedia, infocomm convergence and knowledge management.
