ICICI onesource expands India operations

MUMBAI: ICICI OneSource Ltd, an ICICI Group promoted BPO player, is planning to expand its India operations. The company would set-up one more call center in Mumbai and is planning to add in more clients in the coming year.



Ananda Mukerji, MD and CEO, ICICI OneSource said, "We have been getting good business since our inception in this segment and since this area is growing rapidly, we will have to increase our capacity."



The company already has two call centers in Bangalore and one in Mumbai with a seating capacity of 1,350. The new call Centre would have a capacity of 500 seats. It is expected to be operational by September this year. The company also plans to increase its employee base by 2,000 this year that would take the total number to around 4,500.



The company till date has 11 international clients and is expecting to add six more to its kitty. It offers contact center and transaction processing services to international companies. The contact center services include a wide range of products including inbound and outbound calls, e-mail and chat services. Most of its customers are from financial services, telecom, retail and travel.



In the transaction processing area ICICI OneSource´ focus is on specific verticals in the financial services sector where it has extensive domain knowledge, including retail banking, credit cards, mortgages, insurance and asset management. The company has eVentures, antfactory and Jumpstartup as venture capital investors.



According to Gartner Group estimates, the global BPO market is expected to reach $ 234 billion by 2005. NASSCOM and McKinsey have recently increased their projections for the Indian IT Enabled Services market in 2008 to $ 21 billion from the $ 18 billion earlier. About 30 percent of this business is expected to come from banking, insurance and financial services.
