STOCKHOLM: International Business Systems, an application software and services supplier for wholesale and distribution, announced the general availability of its IBS Enterprise applications products for the Windows platform, that follows the company's new strategic direction announced at the end of 2008.

Over the last few months IBS has started a number of transformation initiatives, under the umbrella of the new company strategy announced in September 2008. These transformation initiatives include a refined focus on core wholesale and distribution industry verticals, a broader technology-platform offering, and an even greater attention to existing customers.

After several successful pilots and a recent early contract win for a full suite of the system, IBS today announces full availability of its IBS Enterprise for Windows offering.

Traditionally only available on the IBM Power i platform, IBS Enterprise for Windows introduces a new service-based architecture for IBS Enterprise, based on Java and other open-standard technologies, it says in a press note.

"Nine months ago we set ourselves some big challenges, not least broadening the availability of our products to include Windows servers, to complement our existing support of IBM Power i", commented Mike Shinya, CEO and President of IBS. "I am pleased to report that we have done that and much more. We have managed not only to complete testing and packaging of this new version, but have also already sold the full suite to a company that is market-leading in its industry".

It is claimed that IBS Enterprise for Windows brings all the rich functionality of IBS Enterprise, the leading business application suite for wholesale and distribution functions and businesses, to the Windows platform.

"IBS Enterprise for Windows brings our 30 years of experience in distribution systems, and the richness of functionality long enjoyed by our Power i customers, to the Windows world", continued Mike Shinya. "We see it as a natural next step towards our vision and stated intent of delivering the most agile, scalable and cost-effective products for the distribution industries. This now broadens the choice by which our customers and prospects can deploy our solutions", he concluded.
