IBS bags Rs 20 cr contract

THIRUVANTHAPURAM: IBS Software Services, a Kerala-based IT firm, has bagged a Rs 20 crore contract for air cargo management from Mercator, a division of Emirates Airways. The contract was signed between V K Mathews, Managing Director, IBS Software Services and Hugh Pride, group Director, Emirates Air in the presence of PK Kunhalikutty, Kerala Minister for Industry and IT.



The software christened `Chameleon’ would be deployed by Emirates Airways, Dubai Airport and Dinata Airlines. The software has been developed in such a way that it can be utilized both by airline companies and cargo companies. Export, import, movement of cargo, pricing of goods and billing is integrated in the Chameleon software.



The software enables those involved in cargo management to take strategic decisions. Pride expressed the hope that the new software would enable Emirates to be the main player in cargo movement in the Dubai Airport. The software development would be completed in 2003 and commissioned by 2004, according to Mathews.
