IBM wins NASSCOM gender inclusivity award

BANGALORE, INDIA: IBM today said that it was recognized by NASSCOM for excellence in gender inclusivity.

IBM in India won the award in both the Best IT Services & Product as well as the Best BPO Company category, said a press release. In the past, IBM India has been felicitated for the Most Innovative Program in Gender Inclusivity from 2007-09. This is the fourth consecutive year that IBM has won the award in the Best BPO Company category, the release added.

The other award winners are: Conjoin - Best emerging company, Kale - Best company with less than 1000 employees, Nokia - Most Innovative Program.

The NASSCOM awards honor companies in the IT-ITES industry which have implemented outstanding practices that promote gender empowerment and women leadership development. The eminent jury members felicitated the winners at an award ceremony held by NASSCOM in Bangalore today, at the Diversity and Inclusivity Summit 2010.

Applicants were evaluated on parameters such as business rationale, senior leadership support, governance and accountability, benefits resulted to employees through gender inclusivity and measurable results for excellence in gender inclusivity in categories such as Best IT Services & Product Company, Best BPO Company, Best Emerging Company (1-5 years in existence), Best Company with less than 1000 employees and Most Innovative Programme.

“IBM has it in its DNA to build diversity at the workplace,” said Dr. Chandrasekhar Sripada, Vice President and Head HR-India/South Asia, after the company won the awards.

“Diversity for us is a business imperative and has always been a priority. IBM’s initiatives towards women employees go beyond hiring and retaining women talent and extend to building the women leadership pipeline,” he added.

He said IBM has a host of programmes to enable women to enhance their leadership and networking skills.
