IBM ties up with Northeastern Varsity college

NEW DELHI, INDIA: IBM announced that it has partnered with USA-based Northeastern University's College of Business Administration (CBA), a provider in practice-based education, to offer India-based IBM managers a newly-developed, online MBA program.

IBM Daksh employees based across its centers in India could now benefit by earning the MBA degree without disrupting their ongoing careers, said a press release.

"A core necessity for IBM's growth and success is to retain and advance our high potential managers. We believe that investing in our most talented managers will enable us to sustain an important competitive advantage in one of the world's largest emerging markets. The availability of a distinguished MBA from Northeastern University for our employees, coupled with the convenience of a proven online education model and delivery platform, will help our key people in advancing their education," said Peter Lynt, VP—Global Process Delivery, IBM.

He added that IBM supports the participating employees by paying for more than half the program's tuition and fees. But they want them to have a sense of ownership. They would look at expanding the program to other countries as the program delivers the desired benefits.

Thomas Moore, Dean—College of Business Administration, Northeastern University, said, "By getting high potential managers into an MBA program, we're adding value to IBM and helping the company recruit and retain workers. It's tailored to meeting the needs of IBM's emerging senior management in India."

He added that they continue to leverage their commitment to meeting the needs of their corporate partners, they believe that this online program, which they have developed for IBM in India provides an online educational model that can be extended to businesses around the world.

The program curriculum provides a solid foundation in all areas of business enterprise from the fundamentals of operations, finance and marketing, to strategic planning.

The management program structure is tailored accordingly to meet the requirements of IBM working professionals who require the convenience of a totally online program.
