IBM opens first showroom in East India

BHUBANESWAR: Eastern region's first exclusive IBM Think World showroom was formally inaugurated in Bhubaneswar on July 27, 2004. Bhubaneswar based Meltronix Services, a business associate of IBM, has opened this center.

According to Meltronix chairman AK Mohapatra, the showroom will deal with the entire range of IBM products, especially desktop and mobile computing tools.

IBM, long known as a corporate brand, was not present in the small office home office (SOHO) segment. However, six months back the company took a strategic decision to enter the SOHO segment and has since been focusing on this.

"As part of its renewed focus on SOHO, the company is in the process of opening more such exclusive IBM think world showrooms," Mohapatra said. He also announced a special discount of Rs 2,000 to Rs 6,000 on MRP to the customers buying the IBM product for the first seven days.
