Having launched its first portal in September 2010 for UK market, www.travelxp.co.uk, Travel XP will introduce the India specific site in early December 2010.

“After evaluating several technologies, we decided that IBM’s solution was adding tremendous value to our business in terms of the advanced architecture, and the level of service that we were promised. IBM’s support and advice in executing this project has been of great help and we are glad that we chose to move on with IBM,” added Prashant Chothani, MD, Travel XP India.

In the initial phases, Travel XP was evaluating Oracle-Sun platform to run the online portal application but IBM proved the merit of it’s product by conducting porting, fine-tuning and systematic benchmarking study of the Verchaska application on its DB2 software and Bladecentre server in IBM Software labs in Bangalore & Germany respectively. The outcome produced distinct improvement in performance of application causing Travel XP to re-evaluate its vendors and eventually awarding the contract to IBM against Oracle database and Sun SPARC servers.

IBM’s commitment towards providing its clients best technological advantage and competitive cost of solution played a key role in Travel XP choosing IBM as their preferred IT partner.
