IBM sets up BI competency center at IIM-B

BANGALORE: IBM India has set up its Business Intelligence Competency center
at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. The new center will be called
the IIM Bangalore Laboratory for IBM Business Intelligence Competency, and will
deliver advanced business intelligence solutions.

The center will provide the technology infrastructure to IIM-Bangalore to
create a national level competency lab for the effective usage of business
intelligence solutions in emerging industries such as telecommunications,
banking and finance.

Speaking at the launch, IIM-Bangalore director Dr. M Rammohan Rao said,
"This center will provide special focus in the area of relationship
marketing. It will create the courseware in business intelligence based
applications and incorporate the same as a part of the student curriculum for
the class of 2000-01. It will also function as a center for executive
development in business intelligence for executives and managers of the Indian
industry."

The IBM Business Intelligence Competency center will have separate work areas
for carrying our development work, training, workshop seminars and symposia. The
center will be equipped with IBM’s business intelligence tools such as the IBM
Intelligent Miner, Visual Warehouse and IBM DB2 OLAP Server.
