IBM servers top grosser for 2003

NEW DELHI: IBM has registered the highest revenue share growth of 4.2 percentage points amongst top server vendors in India, in the overall server market in the first nine months (1Q, 2Q &3Q) of 2003. This was indicated in the IDC Enterprise Server Tracker Report for 3Q 2003.





According to the company release, in the non-x86 Unix server segment, IBM recorded the highest revenue market share growth at 6.9 percentage points in the first nine months of 2003 compared to the year-earlier period. Similarly, in the x86 Intel server segment, IBM recorded the highest revenue market share growth of 3.4 percentage points in the first nine months of 2003 on a year-on-year basis.





"Our comprehensive range of servers delivering the most optimum price to performance ratio have been received well by our customers", said IBM India systems group country manager Swarup Choudhury. "IBM’s consistency in delivering high return on investment at the most efficient total cost of ownership has placed it far ahead of its competitors in the server marketplace," he added.





"IBM’s solid execution of its channel strategy has been one of the key factors driving its success in the ASEAN & India region," said IDC Asia/Pacific enterprise servers & workstations associate director Rajnish Arora. "A strong multi-platform product line-up enabled IBM to better cross sell," he added.
