IBM rolls out laser printers in India

NEW DELHI: IBM India has announced the availability of two new printers - IBM Infoprint Color 1220 and Infoprint Color 1228. These printers are an extension to the recently launched printers from IBM Infoprint 1000 series. The new printers offer higher speeds, expanded paper handling capabilities, better finishing options and Internet-ready printing. They would be distributed by Tech Pacific India Ltd throughout the country.

The new models meet enterprise customers' demands for affordable color at speeds comparable to workgroup monochrome printers, said IBM. Targeted at the business community at large, these printers would be useful for small and medium businesses as well as large organizations. The list price for these printers start at Rs 2,32,200.

Both printers offer competitive performance features such as color toner saving functions to reduce cost of ownership, innovative paper handling, finishing options such as automatic stapling, offset stacking, hole punching and the highest optional capacity input available in the market today, holding up to 5,300 pages. These printers provide enterprises with high speed and competitive performance features such as Internet-ready color capabilities, finishing options and the industry's highest input capacity.

The IBM Infoprint 1000 family is designed to help customers effectively manage the increased demand in paper output and includes best-of-breed printers, software and services. Each model, in the range, features the ability to print a host of popular image files or URLs, channeling PDF or HTML files directly to the printer, quickly and easily, without using a printer driver or application.

The Infoprint Color 1220, a medium-volume, workgroup printing solution, offers monochrome and color performance providing 2400 image quality at up to 20 pages-per-minute (ppm) in paper sizes up to 8.5"x 14". The Infoprint Color 1220 provides monochromatic and color-printing solutions in a single device and offers flexible paper handling and networking options. Additionally, the Infoprint Color 1220 offers high-yield, single-element print cartridges, enabling easier installation and reducing frequency of user intervention.

Also for the workgroup environment, the Infoprint Color 1228 is a medium-volume, wide-format, color printing solution capable of printing brochures, marketing collateral, coupons, financial statements, large spreadsheets, engineering drawings and project management charts with color graphs and highlighting features. With its high speed color and A3/ledger media support, the Infoprint Color 1228 offers speeds up to 28 ppm in both color and monochrome using 2400 image quality.
