IBM provides IT backbone to India Glycols

BANGALORE, INDIA: IBM today announced it is working with India Glycols Ltd (IGL), and other value added specialty chemicals, for enterprise information technology infrastructure services.

As part of the agreement, IBM will host and manage the IT infrastructure including IBM’s state-of-the-art Blade Center and NSeries storage system solution, as well as the non-disruptive data migration and storage level data replication to its remote site (IGL’s plant) located in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. said a press release.

The agreement would allow IGL to focus on its expansion plans while reducing its capital expenditure on IT by as much as 25 per cent.

"IGL is a value-added specialty chemicals powerhouse and we have ambitious growth plans. We are confident that our relationship with IBM will provide us with a distinct competitive edge in the market," said U S Bhartia, chairman and managing director of India Glycols Limited.

He added that IBM engaged with the company from the very beginning to understand its critical business needs and design appropriate solutions. “The agreement with IBM will help us further strengthen our position as one of the leading manufacturers of value added specialty chemicals in the region,” he said.

Commenting on the relationship with India Glycol, Ramesh Narasimhan, director, General Business, IBM India/South Asia, said, “IBM is committed to helping clients bring greater efficiency in their operations by deploying solutions that can highly optimize their IT and hence reduce costs, especially in these challenging times.”

IGL said IBM’s secure, resilient and dynamic solution would help it further drive cost down, reduce risk, improve productivity by eliminating downtime during recovery, enhance flexibility to manage data and improve energy efficiency.

This relationship strengthens IBM’s long-standing commitment to small and medium businesses in India with solutions specifically designed for the mid-market, added the release.
