IBM offers reusable solutions

BANGALORE, INDIA: IT bellwether IBM is resorting to replicable application strategy to meet the growing demand for business solutions, with the minimal time and limited talent pool available, terming the strategy 'Asset based delivery'.

Briefing about the strategy, company spokespersons said IBM has built reusable solutions, deployed at several clients that can be repeated and offered as assets for the new clients. In India deals are struck and assets are being developed for the Airlines Kingfisher and Indigo.

"IBM creates and enhances a portfolio of replicable industry solutions through its Global Solutions Center (GBSC) commissioned last year in Bangalore," said Jebi Cherian, Head- Global Business Solution Center, IBM India.

"Collaborating clients and channel partners, the solutions are built on SOA platform that gives agility to change the structure on the fly to suit the needs of the client. SOA platform enables integration of solutions and IBM is leveraging this to build reusable solutions with minimal customization, addressing necessary configurations", he said.

Besides ensuring faster delivery, the strategy of asset based delivery saves the cost in terms of time and human resource. " Resources previously responsible for the basic creation are now doing much higher-value work, advising clients on how to affect the kind of transformation", said Ray Harishankar, IBM Fellow & Global SOA Strategic Asset Development leader, IBM Corporation.

IBM's asset based delivery caters to the requirements of all the seventeen industry verticals and the reusable solutions effectively address their pain-points, the company said.
