IBM launches CATIA V-5 CAD/CAM solutions

IBM and Dassault Systems announced the availability of

CATIA version 5 on IBM's family of RS/6000 and intelliStation workstations running both

the AIX UNIX and Windows NT operating systems. This announcement extends the availability

of the CAD/CAM/CAE system to the Windows NT environment.

CATIA version 5 is re-engineered CAx offering, which

utilizes next generation object technologies. It is compatibility with version 4. This

allows both systems to be used together and provides progression for existing users.

"CATIA Version 5 is being certified to run on all

IntelliStation workstations including our new E Pro and M Pro models," said Pradeep

Sen, Vice President, Industrial and Distribution sectors, Tata IBM. CATIA version 5 is

expected to benefit customers in a wide range of industries including automotive,

aerospace, heavy machinery, process, power, customer goods, trains and electronics.
