IBM launches new Aptiva range in India

IBM has launched its new Aptiva 580 Pc under Aptiva E series home PC models in India. In

this E series, IBM has released Aptiva 240, 270 and 580 models.






The new Aptiva 580 features Intel Pentium III 450 MHz processor, 96 MB SDRAM and advanced
6X DVD-ROM, graphics blaster RIVA 128ZX AGP enabling high performance graphics for

productivity, educational multimedia and entertainment. The RIVA 128ZX 3D processor

features an 8MB frame buffer and AGP 2X to support the storage of high-quality 3D textures

in addition to a 250 MHz RAMDAC to drive extreme resolution and color depths. It also

features video-processing technologies necessary to accelerate multimedia applications.

Technologies such as scatter-gather DMA, color format conversion, filtering and TV

flicker-filtering enhance the playback digital video.






Also, Aptiva comes with IBM's exclusive "Aptiva on the net", which enables
Aptiva owners to surf the IBM web site for valuable information without needing an

Internet service provider (ISP). All IBM Aptiva PCs are preloaded with IBM's Viavoice

speech recognition software for enhanced ease of use with programs and applications.

Aptiva 580 is priced at $1599. In India, it costs Rs 135, 000. Aptiva 240 is priced at Rs

68,000 and 270 at Rs 77,000.
