IBM, Intel to help India upgrade Aakash PC

PANAJI, INDIA: India is open to collaboration with international companies for future development of Aakash tablet, which could make the low-cost device available for children across the world, Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal said on Monday.

Sibal, who is here to attend the Goa Think Fest conclave, called upon the companies wanted to collaborate with Indian government on Aakash. "We want the tablet PC to be not only for the children of India, but for the children of the world. IBM and Intel are keen to collaborate with India for further development of this product," he said.

The $35 tablet was launched last month for Indian college students.The minister said that during his visit to UNESCO, he found that Aakash had caught the attention of world leaders.
