IBM India's new MD - Annaswamy

BANGALORE: The world's largest IT products and services firm, IBM Corp, has appointed Shanker Annaswamy as Managing Director of IBM India. He replaces Abraham Thomas who has been named Vice President for IBM's Global Small and Medium Business (GSMB) ASEAN/South Asia, based out of Singapore.

Annaswamy will report to Satish Khatu, General Manager, IBM ASEAN/ South Asia. The appointments are effective mid-July 2004.






Announcing the appointment, Satish Khatu said, "Shankar has the broad industry expertise, local and regional experience and leadership -- qualities that will further strengthen our organizational capability and help us continue on our growth in India."





Annaswamy will be responsible for the operations of IBM India, including all product and services divisions as well as the company's sales and distribution. He joins IBM from GE Medical Systems (GEMS) where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer for GEMS South Asia and Managing Director Wipro-GEMS.




Shanker began his career with Philips Medical Systems and has held a number of executive and management assignments and has over 25 years of industry experience.
