NEW DELHI: IBM India Ltd. has announced that it has set up an industry
specialized division that would cater to the IT requirements of the domestic
telecommunications market. IBM India will provide integrated solutions and
services to companies operating in this niche sector, which has undergone
unprecedented transformation in the recent years.
IBM brings its telecom expertise to India to support telecommunications
companies as they transform themselves into e-businesses and to address most of
its business issues like providing new services to their customers with faster
time to market, revenue and profits.
IBM Telecommunication Solutions embrace open industry standards that are the
key to the Next Generation Network. These open standards include wireless,
broadband, and Internet data centers. IBM's telco solutions would be targeted at
telecommunications service providers, telecommunications suppliers and end
customers. The key aspects of IBM' telco solutions include Intelligent networks
and services based on an "always-on service" tone; Competitive
services that help address both the needs of customers and the challenges of a
volatile marketplace; Integrated, scalable solutions that can be quick to
implement; A modern network of high-margin services that can help generate
faster, more dependable revenue streams. These solutions would help a company
create an e-business strategy as well as provide the hardware, software, and
services required to implement this strategy.
IBM solutions are well suited to the changes taking place in the
telecommunications marketplace and bridge the gap between voice & data. It
also provides end-to-end solutions (that builds an "IBM shop"), which
would be suitable to smaller telecommunications firms, whose legacy systems are
less extensive than those of the larger companies.
"We feel that we can add tremendous value to the telcos in India to
address the business and technology issues being faced by them as they roll out
nationwide multi-service networks. We can provide a roadmap for the
transformation of legacy systems as well as integration of disparate IT systems
resulting out of mergers and acquisitions" added IBM India Ltd. country
manager, communication sector, Ramesh Awtaney.
