IBM opens global delivery center in Pune

PUNE, INDIA: IBM has inaugurated a new global delivery center (GDC) in Pune to provide clients worldwide with business consulting and application services.

Located in Hinjewadi Information Technology Park, the center is spread over 1,80,000 sqft and will house close to 2,000 employees once fully staffed.

This is IBM Global Business Services’ (GBS) fourth site in Pune, and it will expand the scope of business and technology expertise already available to clients through its globally integrated network of delivery centers.

In addition to the Pune GDC, IBM also announced a new global delivery center in Cairo, Egypt, which will provide clients with consulting and application services, with a focus on embedded systems development.

The Pune and Cairo sites will be an integrated part of IBM’s vast network of business consulting and application services centers, located in eight countries around the world.

These centers of excellence utilize tools and automation technologies from IBM Research and are staffed with skilled professionals who are equipped to serve client needs by industry.

“As a globally integrated company, IBM’s strategy of doing the right tasks, with the right skills, in the right places, leads in high-value creation and services delivery. Our new facility in Pune will further augment our delivery network worldwide, providing clients in key sectors with differentiated solutions to help them innovate and transform their businesses,” said Rajesh Nambiar, VP and GM, Global Delivery, IBM India.

“Pune has a rich pool of engineering talent and provides a very conducive environment for technology development. This makes a compelling case for locating our new center in Pune,” he added further.

At the Pune center, IBM offers clients a wide range of services that cover key areas such as product lifecycle management, manufacturing productivity, business consulting, human capital management, financial services, technology services, and solutions for small and midsize automotive manufacturers.

IBM also announced a new language translation services center (LTSC) in the Pune facility as part of its strategy to address increasing demand from clients in Europe for non-English language skills.
