IBM develops new Data Masking Technology

BANGALORE, INDIA: IBM research lab in Haifa, Israel is reported to developed a new data masking tool that uses optical character recognition to conceal data. The tool filters the sensitive data before it reaches the PC screen.

The new innovation has come weeks after IBM developed a fully homomorphic encryption scheme that allows data to be manipulated without being exposed.

According to media reports, the IBM researchers have developed the new technology they say mixes screen scraping and optical character recognition to conceal confidential data.
