NEW DELHI: IBM India has set up an e-governance center in Gurgaon in the same facility as their software development center. The facility with a covered area of 10,000 sq. feet will have a dedicated set of people developing e-governance solutions. The center expects to roll out end to end solutions in the e-governance sphere from consulting, integration, service delivery, infrastructure and applications.

A major thrust in this initiative would be to work with partners which could be systems integrators, solutions providers, etc. IBM would provide partners space in the facility to work on joint solutions and to market the products together. In fact, the company has earmarked 60 percent of the floor space to provide working space for its partners.

IBM already has a huge e-governance presence in the country with many ongoing projects. It has worked with the governments of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Haryana. With this new initiative, IBM expects to have more offerings in the e-governance space to grab more market-share.

IBM's Research Lab at IIT Delhi is already working in a number of projects related to e-governance. A significant area of development at the Lab is the voice to text recognition and text to voice recognition.
