IAMAI which primarily represents mature businesses has begun an aggressive drive to recruit start-ups as members, said a press release.

Commenting on the development, IAMAI president Dr Subho Ray said, “After five years we have been able to create a strong internal infrastructure to be useful to the start-ups and we thought this would be the right time for us to extend our support to them.”

He further added that there was no point in reaching out to them till such time as we were able to be of use to them,

As a fast growing organization, IAMAI believes that inclusion of start-ups would also enrich the organization's knowledge base and make its workings more innovative. Reaching out to start-ups is a key element in IAMAI long-term strategy to include all stake-holders in the digital space such as telecom operators, venture funds, ISPs in addition to its existing constituency of online and mobile value added services companies within its ambit, said the release.

A three-month special drive has been undertaken to get online and mobile value added services companies on board and during this period the membership fee for start-ups has been kept to a minimum to attract the best in category companies.

IAMAI hopes to recruit at least 50 start-ups during this period.
