BANGALORE: Hughes Software Systems has announced the availability of its new

Signaling System 7 — Signaling Transport (SS7-SIGTRAN) solution. The new

"We are committed to integrating best-in-class complementary

technologies that allow our OEM customers to get to market faster," said

Arun Kumar, president and managing director, Hughes Software Systems. "With

this solution, we are uniquely positioned to provide more value to our

customers, who now have a single vendor solution for both network requirements.

Our customers can further enhance on this base by using any of our higher

software solutions on SS7 and GPRS/3G, and/or Voice over Packet."

SS7 is a technology in which signaling information related to many

information circuits is conveyed over a separate circuit by addressed packets.

SIGTRAN defines a suite of protocols and adaptation layers for transporting

signaling information over IP-based networks.

This integrated solution is the latest addition to Hughes Software Systems’

SS7 and SIGTRAN stacks, which are provided as building blocks, each tailored to

meet specific needs. HSS products are utilized by OEMs to build network nodes

for the third-generation mobile and voice over packet infrastructure. The new

offering provides OEMs with a clear choice of leveraging IP infrastructure from

mobile to wireline networks and vice versa, with minimum change in the OEM’s

application layers.
