Huawei wins contract from Brazil

., a telecommunications networks provider, has announced that it has been awarded a GSM network expansion contract by Telemar/Oi, Brazil's GSM mobile operator, augmenting a long-term partnership between Telemar/Oi and Huawei.

Telemar/Oi is the first operator to introduce GSM network to Brazil covering 16 states across the country. Telemar/Oi, which is owned by Telemar Group, the largest private enterprise group in Brazil, serves more than 10 million subscribers in Brazil.

According to the contract, Telemar/Oi appoints Huawei to expand its GSM commercial network leveraging Huawei's comprehensive portfolio of GSM access network equipment, which includes base stations, base station controllers and microwave transmission facilities.

Paulo Altmayer Goncalves, CTO of Telemar/Oi said, “We regard Huawei as our reliable partner to expand our legacy GSM network. Riding on Huawei's industry-leading technologies and its extensive experience in cooperating with leading global operators, our customers will be able to enjoy high-quality network coverage and more integrated services.”

Huawei's GSM solutions have been serving more than 100 million subscribers in over 60 countries, while more than 500,000 TRXs of Huawei's GSM solutions have been deployed around the world.
