Huawei, NSN win Russia MegaFon 3G tenders

MOSCOW, RUSSIA: Russia's third-largest mobile phone operator MegaFon said it has picked Nokia Siemens Networks and Huawei to supply equipment for its third-generation (3G) Russian networks in 2010-2011.

The telecoms equipment makers outbid Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent and ZTE, MegaFon, part-owned by TeliaSonera, said in a Friday statement.

It also said it would test equipment made by ZTE and Alcatel-Lucent and could make a decision later on signing deals with them.
