Huawei has unveiled its new flagship smartphones- Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. The devices pack Huawei’s own artificial intelligence chip which could help it compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung. Alongside the Mate 10 series, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 10 was also unveiled, which in terms of specifications is identical to the Mate 10 Pro.

“As we enter the age of intelligence, AI is no longer a virtual concept but something that intertwines with our daily life. AI can enhance the user experience, provide valuable services and improve product performance,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group. “The Huawei Mate 10 Series introduces the first mobile AI-specific Neural Network Processing Unit, launching a new era of intelligent smartphones,” he further added.

The Mate 10 sports a 5.9-inch QHD LCD (16:9) display while the Mate 10 Pro offers a 6-inch full HD+ OLED (18:9) display. Both have FullView displays and are meant to improve video consumption experience. The devices come with new Huawei Kirin 970 10nm processor complete with a neural processing unit, 4GB and 6GB of RAM, 64GB and 128GB of storage, and microSD support.

On the camera front, there is a dual lens Leica-branded rear camera (12-megapixel color lens and 20-megapixel monochrome lens) with optical image stabilization and f/1.6 aperture, and a 8-megapixel selfie camera. Then, there is a fingerprint sensor on the front for Mate 10 and on the back for Mate 10 Pro, and 4,000 mAh battery.

The Pro’s design is IP67 rated for water and dust protection, whereas Mate 10 doesn’t have an IP rating at all. The Mate 10 has 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM while the Pro will have 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. Both support dual 4G SIM cards.

The Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro will launch with Huawei’s all-new EMUI 8.0 powered by Android 8.0. The biggest feature in the Huawei Mate 10 series is the Kirin 970 chipset, which is designed to handle tasks related to AI and deep learning.

The Mate 10 will retail for around €699 (Rs 53,400) in October, while the Mate 10 Pro will cost €799 (Rs 61,000) and should launch in mid-November. If you’re looking for a 256GB Mate 10 model that costs €1,395 (Rs 1,06,600) then you’ll want the Porsche Design version of the Mate 10.
