HPTU to consider JEE Mains and 10+2 instead of HPCET, for admissions this year; apply from June 22

HPTU will not take its own entrance exam. It will consider students from JEE Mains and 10+2 marks basis. Applicants can apply from June 22 to July 31.

NTA conducts JEE Mains in April. But then the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown happened. Thus, NTA has to reschedule it to July 18-23, this year. But luckily, the format for JEE Main exam will be computer-based. Also, there has been no change in the syllabus or pattern.

Also, there is a slight change in the Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) admissions. Recently, HPTU has opened application forms for students of UG and PG courses. Interested students can admission to the university from June 22, 2020, to July 31, 2020.

However, the admission to HPTU, this year, will not take place through Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET). According to reports, interested candidates would rather have to submit their separate application forms for each subject. They can apply for their desired course through the official website of Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU).

HPTU even mention on the admission brochure that it will consider admissions to 2020-21 in various courses. For that student have to fill the prescribed forms. They have to submit a separate application for each program.

How will it consider the scores of JEE Mains?

HPTU will consider JEE Mains 2020 rank along with 12th class examination scores for students. This is for students who want to enrol in B.Tech programmes. First 50 per cent of the seats will go to students based on their JEE Mains performance. Then, it will admit students to the remaining 50 per cent of the college seats on merit-basis.

Meanwhile, the admission to M Tech programmes will take place based on GATE scores. If there are any vacant seats left, the university will consider students according to their B E or B Tech scores. Moreover, interested candidates must have more than 50% marks in BE or BTech to be eligible for seeking admission.

Every student admitted to any UG or PG program has to pay a non-refundable fee of ₹ 3000 per year as University Fee and ₹ 1500 as one-time University Registration.
