HP updates BladeSystem, ProLiant G7 platforms

BANGALORE, INDIA: Building on the momentum of its Converged Infrastructure strategy, HP announced new updations to its BladeSystem platform, adding three rack-mount systems, and Virtual Connect, adding seven new ProLiant G7 servers to its portfolio.

“Customers are asking for solutions that remove the layers of complexity and excess equipment that have sprawled across their environments so that IT can focus on innovation rather than operations” said Rajesh Dhar, director, Industry Standard Servers, HP India.

“Today and throughout the year, HP is bolstering its Converged Infrastructure strategy with enterprise solutions across every area of the data centre, resulting in greater levels of simplification, performance and savings for our clients,” added Dhar.

The new ProLiant G7 line-up, which comes with integrated 10Gb, includes seven blade servers: the BL680c, BL620c, BL685c, BL465c, BL460c, BL490c and the BL2x220c, reports ZDNet.

The BL680c supports up to 1TB of memory.

Three rack-mount systems have also been added to the BladeSystem line-up, including the DL980, DL580 and DL585. HP claims that the rack-mount servers offer up to 2 terabytes (TB) and “self-healing” capabilities that maximize application uptime with a 200 percent boost in availability.

The HP BladeSystem Matrix software, through new integration with HP Server Automation, enables private clouds.

HP's new ProLiant G7 servers start at €2,585 (£2,150). The DL580, DL585, BL465c and BL685c are available now, and the others will be released in the coming months. BladeSystem Matrix will be made available from mid-July at a starting price of $150,000.
