HYDERABAD: Hewlett-Packard, an IT company and the government of AP has
announced a three-year alliance to build an HP I-community in the Kuppam
constituency of Chitoor district. "The alliance is intended to accelerate
socio-economic development in Kuppam by using information and communication
technology (ICT) to increase income opportunities and access to new markets. We
are going to invest more than $1 million over a period of three years for this
pilot project," said, Debra L Dunn, VP, Strategy and Corporate Operations
at HP.
The pilot project will provide a technology platform for services like
education, healthcare and rural development for the community around the Kuppam
region which, happens to be the chief minister's own constituency. In addition
the project seeks to build leadership and IT capabilities within the Kuppam
community, and to establish a sustainable and replicable model for growth. If
become successful, the same model will be replicated to other parts of the state
and then to different parts of the country.
Under the alliance, the government of AP will help establish IT
infrastructure in Kuppam and will make Kuppam a priority for ICT investments. HP
will work with the community to develop scalable and self-sustaining IT
solutions and will lead in establishing teamwork among the participating
parties.
"The government of AP and HP share the conviction that the benefit of
technology multiply when government, business and community work together to
provide accountable leadership in shaping lives in marketplaces. Very soon we
are going to replicate the same model within other parts of the state as
well," said, N Chandra Babu Naidu, CM of Andra Pradesh.
