According to Strategy Eye, HP device features a touch screen and a qwerty keyboard and boasts a range of business tools. HP is hoping the device will gain traction in the lucrative market for professional mobile devices. However, the Glisten will have to perform better than HP’s previous mobile devices, which have struggled to make an impact.

The Glisten is first the handset on US mobile operator AT&T with an active-matrix OLED screen, which promises a clearer image than many common mobile displays. It also comes with expandable flash memory, a 3.1-megapixel camera and support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

AT&T will offer the handset for USD179.99 with a USD50 rebate on a two-year contract, but will also sell it with various business accounts. “The product has been designed to help meet the demands of our business customers,” says AT&T mobile phone VP Michael Woodward.

The Glisten, previously called the Obsidian, includes a combined text, email and call history inbox and a Microsoft Office document reader. However, some commentators suggest the device may be held back by its unpopular Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.
